The Christ Who Takes Our Breath Away

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the Christ who takes our breath away.

We live in crazy times, don’t we? We have sharper TV’s but muddier minds, more conveniences and less time, greater tolerance yet little love, more of ‘us’ and less of Him.

Into every shiny package of 365 days that we call a year, we try to shoehorn in as many things as we possibly can. We hurry here and hasten there. We spend too much and laugh too little. Between school and church, baseball and ballet, work and home, we desperately try to do it all.

Busy Lives ~ Empty Hearts

Our schedules are full. Our hearts are not.

Sleepless in the still of the night, my soul cries out for more of Him. Jesus.

He is…
• A rock for the weak
• A fortress for the fearful
• The Door to God
• Shepherd of the sheep
• Savior of my soul
• The Way to the Father
• The Truth that never dies
• My Life
• My Treasure
• The Bright Morning Star
• Hope for the hopeless
• Rest for the weary
• and ten thousands things more

It’s hard to squeeze all of Jesus into my life. Thus, I must make Him my life.

This year, my heart’s cry is for more of Him.

• Thinking His thoughts
• Saying only His words (hmmm, that should cut down on my talking a bit)
• Praying His will
• Hearing His voice
• Embracing His love
• Accepting His forgiveness
• Carrying His fragrance wherever I go

May this year not measured by the number of breaths I take but by the Christ who takes my breath away.

That’s beautiful Kim. That’s exactly what i want my life to look like for 2010. More if Him, less of me.

You have beautifully described the cry of my heart, that He alone, the one who gives me every breath would take my breath away with His beauty, His glory, His wisdom, His power, His intimate knowledge of me, and His unfailing lovingkindness. Thank you.

  5. Saying only His words? THAT is a good goal for me!

  6. Very insightful article. I also like the artwork of your blog. I intend to return again at some point. Thanks
