Spiritual Growth: Hold Fast

Hold Fast

I confess to being wildly sentimental, and I adore a good love story. My heart thrills when the damsel in distress is rescued by her handsome prince galloping in on his majestic white stallion. From the moment the story begins, I eagerly anticipate the closing words, “and they live happily ever after.” What began in tragedy ends in glory, and all is well.

Fairy Tale Come True

Interestingly enough, the Gospel has many parallels to those childhood tales. There are captives held in the clutches of a dark tyrant. There is a Righteous Prince, Jesus Christ, who has freed us. And one day He will come again with a sword and a steed. We will live happily ever after.

However, in the here and now, we are in the middle of the story. And sometimes, in the daily-ness of life and death, sickness and health, relationships and responsibilities, it’s easy to feel lost and alone, wondering when our Prince will come.

Hold fast! God’s truths remain unchanged.

  • God is not mad.
  • I can’t do this, but He can.
  • I am forgiven, accepted, and beautiful.
  • I am a beloved daughter of the King.
  • God is good. He loves me. He will come again.

“This is the victory that has overcome the world – even our faith” I John 5:4 (NIV)

Happily Ever After

Today may seem dark but the victory has been won. Hold fast! Your Prince is on His way.

“And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning or crying or pain; the first things have passed away. And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new” Revelation 21:4-5 (NASB)
