Danger - Blog Changes Ahead!

Danger – change ahead!!! Oh, how I wish those words never had to come out of my mouth (keyboard :) ).

The truth is that in this time-restrained world “nothing fails like success,” and what that means is that changes lie ahead for the Living in Love with Jesus blog here at Life Coaching for Christian Women. In others words, I have been so undeservedly blessed by my Father God that I find myself in the difficult position of having to narrow the scope of the Living in Love with Jesus blog that I love.

Change Is Hard

This is hard!!! I get a lump in my throat just saying it but know it is for the best.

I love everything I do, and if my time and energy were unlimited (hah!), I would only add more to my plate and not take a single thing away. Unfortunately, that is not what God seems to be calling me to in this particular season of my ministry life.

I am praying that revamping the blog will allow me some additional time and focus to devote even more to my one-to-one coaching practice and to public speaking engagements with Christian women. My life’s passion is to live contagiously in love with Jesus and helping other Christian women do the same is what gets me out of bed every day.

Delightfully Intermittent

Thus, for a time Living in Love with Jesus will move to a “delightfully intermittent mode” – meaning that I’ll allow myself the privilege of posting when time permits and my heart cannot be contained in its sharing. Against all prevailing blogging wisdom, (don’t you just love it when God goes against prevailing wisdom), this will be completely random and hopefully will become a sweet unanticipated surprise to readers each time it appears.

Stay In Touch

If you would like to stay in touch (and I really, really hope you do), you can by:

God has blessed me beyond measure with amazing relationships developed through this blog, such as my relationship with you, and I pray that those continue until we meet in eternity face to face.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you are and all you do. Please let me know of any way that I can serve you and pray for you as we eagerly await our Savior’s return.

God loves you and so do I!

Humbled by His love ~ Kim

Ultimate Blog Party

by Kim Avery

What if I threw a party and no one came???? Thankfully, that didn’t happen because you are here.

Why a virtual party? Because I am a virtual girl who lives in a very virtual world. Yes, I have a real family (who I adore), and flesh and blood friends that I wouldn’t trade for anything, but truthfully, most of my life is lived on the phone or online.

As a career & life coach, I have clients from around the world. As a professor, at two different coaching schools, I have students from around the globe. And as a blogger, I have wonderful friends whom I have never met in person – friends like you.

So, thank you for visiting my blog and joining in on the fun.

Here at Living in Love with Jesus I am committed to inspiring and equipping Christen women to live everyday in love with their Lord. After all, everything goes better when we are in love.

To do that I discuss the simple such as What Stained Carpet Taught Me About God, the profound – The Christ Who Takes Our Breath Away, and the truly tragic, like My Girl Scout Cookie Binge.

Living in Love with Jesus is also supported by a superb team of guest bloggers who help you discover Jesus on Marriage Mondays, Frugal Fridays, Wednesday’s Wordless Worship (where you can add your own personal worship photo each week), Sunday’s Ten Thousand Charms, and more.

Prizes

Thanks to 5MinutesforMom.com (sponsor of our Ultimate Blog Party) we even have gifts at our big bash. Just click on their link and you too, can sign up to win some amazing gifts. We’ve even donated an eCourse that you may be able to win. Personally, I am hoping for one of these gifts: 19, 15, 13, 41, 39, 17, 11, 4, (from the U.S./Canada list) and of course, the grand prize of a Toshiba TV.

Journaling or Blogging?

by Kim Avery

Can one blog about blogging? Is that kosher? Or is it like defining a word with the word itself? Ah well, at the risk of incurring my sixth grade teacher’s wrath, I’ll push on.

Journals

Before blogs, there was the simple journal. It came in many different colors, shapes, and sizes. I own them all. I have leather journals, cloth bound, cardboard, and homemade. I have paid over twenty dollars for a completely blank book. (I hope my husband isn’t reading this.) And I have paid a dollar for a totally tacky journal covered with kaleidoscope colors. They all work.

I love journaling. I love the soft leather cover, the parchment pages blank with potential, and the sound of my pen scratching out thoughts I never knew I had. I can cry in my journal, laugh, plan, promise, and confess – I can bleed from the inside out in shades of hot pink and in the end, it feels good.

I am addicted. I’ve tried quitting but to no avail. Walk with me past any stationary store, listen carefully, and you will hear the blank journals begin to call my name. “Kim, touch me, smell me, open me, write in me and I will change your life.” Eventually, I succumb to their siren call and indeed, they do change my life.

I begin confused and end advised, start sad and finish glad, start weak and emerge strong. God meets me in-between each ruled line and through journaling, true transformation occurs.

Blogs

Now picture the humble blog. It too, comes in a myriad of shapes and sizes and at all prices. They all work.

I love blogging. I like the click of my painted nails as they tap the charcoal black keys. I thrill to the fact that my words can finally keep pace with my thoughts no matter where they roam. Best of all, I can punch the delete key with abandon and hasn’t that just saved my life a time or two.

While journaling is a solitary sport, blogging is not. I may write alone but with the mere push of a button labeled “send,” suddenly my thoughts are on naked display for the entire world to see. For all time. Gulp.

But blogging changes me. Elegant phrases composed to make me look good somehow end up as untutored words that let you see the real me. As you peer deep into my soul, I look, too. It is worth it for transparency invites accountability. And when you leave a grace-infused comment at the end of my authentic mess, I feel God’s smile.

How about you? Journaling or blogging?

Winners - Top Ten Blogs for 2009

The Beauty of Blogs

by Kim Avery ~ As I look back over my life, I realize that a deep passion for my Lord has been more often caught than taught. Don’t get me wrong. I love to read, learn, and sit under fabulous teaching. But all too often, I walk away smarter but not a bit more like Christ.

It’s hard to know how learning the names of the 12 disciples will help me when the kids are up all night, the dog throws up on the carpet, and my husband calls from work to say the boss will be coming home for dinner. Tonight.

On the other hand, when I see God’s wonderful truths lived out in someone else’s life day by day, I get it. Call me a little slow, but walking alongside women in love with God ignites within me a fire that nothing can put out.

No More Isolation

Alas, this doing life together used to be a dream with no hope of ever coming true. I work on the phone. From home. I live in a small town and I barely know my neighbors’ names.

No more. With a high speed internet connection and a shiny black keyboard, I am no longer alone. Godly Christian women exist. And better than that, they blog. They blog about cooking and cleaning, spoiling and spanking, love and life. Best of all, these humble, generous women write about the Christ who is in the midst of it all.

Thank You

Dear bloggers, you have made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. You have shown me Christ. Thank you. I can never repay you but I can try to pass on this amazing blessing. To that end, the Living in Love with Jesus blog at Life Coaching for Christian Women recently hosted a contest to discover the top ten Christian women’s blogs for 2009.
